About the Photograph
"The Jimador" first appeared on the cover of the first coffee-table book ever published about tequila. Tequila, lo nuestro that was published for Tequila Sauza in 1983 in Mexico City by Fernández Cueto Editores. The photo was also used on every box made by Tequila Sauza and it appears on the label of La Perseverancia tequila. It was shot on a late afternoon, just before sunset, in an agave field near the town of Tequila, Jalisco. The camera was a Leica M-4 with a 21mm Elmarit lens using available light.
